Visualization and quantitative roughness analysis of peach skin by atomic force microscopy under storage

چکیده
Skin status of produce is important in determining fruit quality. Sensory evaluation is often used to express this characteristic. A new method, atomic force microscopy (AFM), was proposed to denote the changes of skin status. Arithmetic roughness (Ra) and root mean square roughness (Rq) of ‘Jinxiu’ yellow peach (prunus persicu L. Batsch.) were analysed by AFM. The Ra and Rq values increased with storage time in both controlled atmosphere (CA) and regular air (RA) storage, and the values of CA group were smaller than that of RA group. There is a linear correlation between Ra and Rq: The three-dimensional profiles of the skin could also be gained by AFM. The results indicate that the roughness values increase with the storage time, and the roughness of CA group increases slower than that of RA group. r 2004 Swiss Society of Food Science and Technology. Surface Evaluation of Resin Zein Films Containing Sugar Plasticizers by Permeability and Atomic Force Microscopy Analysis
Zein is one of the best biopolymer for edible film making and sugars are natural plasticizers for biopolymers. In this research, sugars (fructose, galactose and glucose) at three levels (0.5, 0.7, 1 g/g of zein) were used as plasticizers for zein protein films and their water vapor permeability (WVP), oxygen permeability (OP) and atomic force microscopy (AFM) topography were studied. The p...

The study of cultural heritage artifacts and the research of a protection and restoration intervention create with - and are often limited to - a complete characterization of their surface. This is not only factual for museum objects, but also for archaeological artifacts, because the object as it was discovered may contain precious unknown information that could be lost by too much aggressive ...
متن کاملThe Effects Of Interfacial Roughness On The Argon Ion Implanted Tantalum Films
In the present study, effect of interfacial roughness on the ion implanted Tantalum based surfaces has been investigated. The argon ions with energy of 30 keV and in doses of 1×1017 , 3×1017 , 5×1017 , 7×1017 , and 10×1017 (ion/cm2) have been used at ambient temperature. The Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM), analysis have been used to study and characterize the surfaces morphology. The effect of ...
متن کاملSynthesis of circular double-stranded DNA having single-stranded recognition sequence as molecular-physical probe for nucleic acid hybridization detection based on atomic force microscopy imaging.
A new class of DNA probes having a mechanically detectable tag is reported. The DNA probe, which consists of a single-stranded recognition sequence and a double-stranded circular DNA entity, was prepared by polymerase reaction. M13mp18 single strand and a 32mer oligodeoxynucleotide whose 5'-end is decorated with the recognition sequence were used in combination as template and primer, respectiv...
متن کاملRoughness evolution during growth of hydrogenated tetrahedral amorphous carbon
Hydrogenated tetrahedral amorphous carbon (ta-C:H) is advantageous as coating material for high-density magnetic and optical storage devices, due to its favorable combination of density and smoothness. An advantage of ta-C:H over tetrahedral amorphous carbon (ta-C) is the absence of macroparticles, often found in cathodic arc deposition of ta-C, and the hydrogen rich surface, compatible with th...
